Hitik Law Pro Bono Human Rights Program

At Hitik Law we are dedicated to advocating for victims of gross violations of human rights.

Through our expertise we strive to address cases of grave human rights abuses, war crimes, and ethnic cleansing. We advocate throughout UN human rights mechanisms, other international organizations, and advise on legal cases brought under universal jurisdiction. We are dedicated to thought leadership, drawing attention to human rights violations and fostering public awareness and advocacy.

Our activities are mainly concentrated on the protection of human rights and the promotion of the rule of law, with a geographic focus on Armenia and Artsakh.

Third Annual CFTJ Conference

Hitik Law Principal Attorney Talin Hitik served as the moderator of two impactful sessions at the Third Annual Center for Truth and Justice Conference, dedicated to human rights and accountability. Click below to learn more about our contributions.

Principal Attorney Talin Hitik’s article, “Indigenous Displacement: Legal Pathways for Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians and Displaced Indigenous Communities,” was published in Volume 26:1 of the Loyola Journal of Public Interest Law. The article examines the legal status of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh under international law, analyzing their potential recognition both as refugees and as an indigenous people. Through this dual framework, it sheds light on the protections available to displaced communities and the legal gaps that hinder their right to return and live in safety and dignity.

The International and Comparative Law Center – Armenia (I.C. Law Center) and the Hitik Law Pro Bono Human Rights Program (Hitik Law PBHR) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a strategic partnership to advance justice, accountability, and the protection of rights for victims of atrocity crimes arising from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

This partnership marks a significant development in the international community’s efforts to address grave violations of international humanitarian and human rights law and to promote accountability and reparations for victims of mass displacement and related crimes. Through this collaboration, the two organizations will consolidate their expertise to strengthen legal mechanisms for redress, ensure the systematic documentation of violations, and amplify victims’ voices in international legal fora.
